Hi Hazelmore...i found this...dont know if hes yours for sure but looks promising!

Joseph Batten Baptisim son of Joshua and Catherine Batten 26Oct 1834 Athelhampton Dorset.(right age for your Joseph)

I cannot find either Joshua or Catherine in Buckland Holton in 1851 at the moment so maybe they came from Athelhampton.I,ll keep looking regards cheryle.f

Hi chryle f.!

That's nothing - he's 56 on 1891!!!  Perhaps he just couldn't remember when he was born!!

Thank you very much for the parents - that is really great!  If you should find anything else (1861 or 1851 or even 1841 !!) I should be truly delighted!

Thanks again for your trouble, sorry I am late replying but just got home tonight from Wednesday!

Hi Hazel!

At the moment I don't think anybody will be able to help you with this particular  look up request.

This is for two reasons. Firstly, the 1861 census in notorious for being the least transcribed of all the census years. Furthermore, (in my opinion) Hamphire Genealogical Society do not seem to be too interested in census transcription projects. Their 1851 census is complete but their publication system is not very good, they have not produced a CD-Rom for this census yet.

Nevertheless, I hope there is someone out there who can help you.

Best Wishes
