I am related to this Mark Martindale and Ann Hosier. He is my Great Great Great Great Great Great Grandfather. He had a son John who married Ann Elliott in 1800; who in turn had a son Samuel who married a Sarah Hill in 1825; they in turn had a son John. They were all born around the Abbots Langley / Watford area. John had a son George in 1852 who is my Great Grandfather and he had a son Henry David Martindale born in Islington in 1888.
They seemd to have had around 8 children each and I would be interested to hear from anyone related to these people or who has the surname Martindale in the Hertfordshire area. I would also like to try and go back futher than Mark Martindale.
The IGI records a marriage on 24 January 1809 between Samuel Martindale and Elizabeth in Abbots Langley.
A contact has suggested to me the surname Cockle for Elizabeth, but that marriage took place in Redbourn in 1799.
I seek the correct surname for the otherwise mysterious Elizabeth.
Anyone any ideas??

Hi Grundy
I'm afraid that I cannot find this marriage on the IGI either. However, The Allen Index which records all Hertfordshire marriages to 1837 is now online and there is no sign of a marriage between a James MARTINDALE and an Elizabeth. This rather suggests that the marriage did not take place in Herts.
