I am desperately seeking information about a Marriage which took place at The Cathedral Manchester, 01 November 1868 .

Logged
Sach/Saich- Essex.
Kent & North Family - Hampshire.
Burke- Co Galway Ireland
Sharp/e- Sth Kyme-Pinchbeck & Blankney, Spalding- Lincolnshire, also Leicestershire.
Plowright - Pinchbeck. Lincolnshire
Higman & Seldon Family- Stoke Damerol. Devon.
Freebody -Middlesex-London
Gravel- Prestwich. Manch-Lancashire
Fraser/Frazer- Salford  Manch Lancashire
Berry- Bollington. Cheshire

Sorry I hit the wrong key...

Groom:    Alexander Fraser/Frazer. Born Circa 1839.
Bride:      Sarah Berry Born Circa. 1847- Bollington. Cheshire.. I think her father's name was William.....I have been trying to find out where the Groom Alexander was born and who his parents were???

Alexander & Sarah lived almost their entire married life in Salford when Alexander died in 1899-then Sarah left and returned to Bollington Cheshire ( according to the 1901 UK Census ) with 3 of her daughters.. Emily, Sarah E. and Ann/Annie.

I have looked at all the UK Census records... most of which inform me that Alexander came from Manchester.. but on the  1891 UK Census it tells me that he was born Circa 1830 Llymansdale Gloucester...Huh  I have searched Genuki as well as a British Roadmap and cannot find any record of a town / village by that name...

Can anyone please help me. or has access to the Marriage registry of Manchester Cathedral... this may indicate where Alexander was born and who his parents were..

Have you got the marriage Cert, does it not give fathers names?Huh?

1. ALEXANDER FRAZER - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Marriage: 01 NOV 1868 Cathedral, Manchester, Lancashire, England.
Manchester Central Library archives have records for the above if anybody is going there they could do a look up for you.

BMD index
Married Sarah Berry
December Quarter 1868
This is the reference if you wish to send to the registry office for the marriage cert. His fathers name could be on there.

Dear Salford Lass & Ericx..

Thank you so very much for your reply.. I appreciate your response... I was talking to my Cousin last night & she faxed through to me a copy of the Marriage Certificate of Alexander & Sarah Frazer ( nee Berry). she forgot to tell me she had purchased the Marriage Cert.... I feel such a fool...

It states that Alexander Frazer's fathers name was Hugh Frazer an Engineer- also the Marriage was performed after Banns in the Cathedral Parish Church, Manchester..Witnesses to the Ceremony were Joseph Berry I assume could be Sarah's brother, but will have to check that out...and Ann Slate???

I cannot research any further back on Alexander's father Hugh as i have no idea where he came from? Could be Lancashire- Scotland or Ireland depending on the spelling of the " Fraser/Frazer" surname... any suggestion of where I could go next? It is Hugh ( the father )  that I am trying desperately to find.. this is where I have hit the Brick Wall for suxh a long time.....

Again my appreciation and sincere " Thanks" that you have shown to me.
