Hi,
I am looking for Bessie Coates the daughter of Phillis Longstaff Armstrong and Thomas Coates. Bessie (Elizabeth?) was born in 1918 in Fishburn, near Sedgefield, Co.Durham, England. From what i gather she emigrated to South Africa or Kenya in the 1940's and was a photographer.
She had an uncle Thomas Armstrong who also lived in Fishburn and an uncle Rewcastle Armstrong who lived in Consett, Co.Durham, her mother had married several times and when Rewcastle died in 1951 her mothers surname was Nixon.
Does this ring any bells???
