Hi Ruth
Could you please look up in your resources for the marriage of William Lenton and Sarah Roberts. They married Jan/March 1885. Her father was John Roberts.
I cannot find any trace of William Lenton with her on any subsequent census - is he a sailor? All details would be most welcome.

Hi Ricky
Sarah Roberts was born in Ramsey, Hunts about 1864 (7 years old on 1871 census). HEr parents were John Roberts and Lydia Cumbledge.
William is completely illusive apart from being detailed on FreeBMD with Sarah giving the marriage details - I thought if someone could look up the church records it would help. He never seems to appear with her on any census after their marriage although she keeps having children.

Hi Marion
Just looked at the 1891 census and she still calls herself Sarah Roberts u/married living with parents at Ramsey. Which seems strange if she was married in 1885

I assume your original request was in response to Ruth's offer to do Ramsey lookups - the transcript which she has would cover your marriage. However she hasn't posted since last November so possibly she doesn't follow the board very closely at the moment.

Ricky: I did notice that the 1891 census said she was single, but on the 1901 census (RG13/1470/127/10) she is down as Sarah Lenton married with her 4 children, William, Mabel, Olive and Irene and as the first 2 tie up with the 1891 census it could just have been the enumerator getting her married status wrong while living with her parents.
Have heard from David thatRuth has not looked at the board for awhile so I will wait for a while then I may have to order the certificate.
