I can't spot him in 1841 but there is this baptism on the IGI.

BAPTISM

Joseph Hensman Dorrington - 9 February 1834, Goldington
Parents:  Samuel Dorrington & Sarah

There are also these baptisms to the same parents.

Thomas 1 March 1835 (This Thomas probably died young)
Alice 27 May 1838
James 1 Nov 1840
Samuel 18 June 1843
Thomas 19 October 1845
Anne 29 June 1851

There is also a marriage:

12 October 1832, Goldington, Bedford
Samuel Dorrington & Sarah Denton

And another baptism:

26 March 1813, Goldington
Sarah Denton
Parents:  James Denton & Hannah

All the above are extracted records.  There is another one for Sarah Denton's baptism giving mothers name as Hannah Mayhew (Member submitted)

Renhold is 2 miles NNE of Goldington.

Hope this helps.

Found the family in 1841, they're indexed as Forrister  Huh  Definitely Dorrington on original.

HO107/1/9 P5

Samuel Dorrington 28, Ag Lab
Sarah 28
Joseph Hensman 7
Alice 3
James 8 months

Can't read address but it's next door to the Crown Pub

Next door but one

James Dorrington 36, Ag Lab
Elenor 29
John 15

Hope they are yours.

Regards ... Sheila

Shiela Thank you so much for all your help I am really grateful, I believe that this is the right family, although I am puzzled as to where the Hensman comes from.
But for the moment you have given me loads to work on, thank you again you are a gem.
Kindest Regards Bethan

Bethan

We went over this in Aug 2005 when I gave you the same 1841 census information that Sheila's just given you, plus the Hensman family who lived 3 doors away.  I don't understand how you now say you have hit a brick wall when we demolished it nearly 2 years ago!

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,81274.0.htmltml

The Hensman and Dorrington families were connected in that on 12 Oct 1803 Thomas Dorrington married Ann Hensman at Goldington. I suspect these were the grandparents of Joseph Hensman Dorrington, ie they were Samuel Dorrington's parents. I think Thomas and Ann were non-conformists which is why their children don't seem to have been baptised as infants in the established church - see the IGI for the birth (not baptism) of James Dorrington in 1805 recorded at the Old Meeting House Mill Lane-Independent, Bedford. It would also explain why Samuel Dorrington's baptism wasn't until 1826 - if you check the parish register microfilm it wouldn't surprise me to find a comment that he was a teenager.

Regards

Dave, Thanks for the help, I know we went over it in 2005, but unfortunately as I am having renovations on my house I lost the paperwork and then I could not find the thread on Rootschat, I am sorry if I have been a bother but things are a little topsy turvey at the moment, Thank you again for all your help.
Very Best Wishes Bethan
