Jordans village, Chalfont st Peter
« on: Sunday 24 September 06 23:02 BST (UK) »

I am researching the life of Harry Hayward who died in Jordans village 1922 where he worked as a painter and decorator.
Harry was born in Aylesbury and worked in his father's dairy business until he went to serve in ww1 and then worked as a painter and decorator. Can anyone add anything to the Jordans village info or Harry's story as his elderly son would love to know more about his father who died when he was 3 years old.

Any snippet may help with our research and would be gratefully appreciated.

Hi,
I've only recently discovered this site, so you may have already found out this info since your posting. Jordans village is in the parish of Chalfont St Giles and has strong links with the Quakers. William Penn is buried there.
Check out the seergreenandjordans.org.uk website.
Kind regards, Kim.

Hello Billy56 - you have chosen one of the most beautiful parts of the country - or at least your relative did.

My Daughter went to College nearby and even though we kept her room for her she lost her heart to the area and is still living and working down there.

In Chalfont St. Giles - just down the road is Milton's House a lovely pub called The Merlins the village green with the duckpond and lovely real live ducks!.  The scenery and some of the old buildings have been used for TV series.

I am sure you can get more information from a local web site.

Regards

Puck.
