The IGI has an extracted marriage on 12 December 1742 at Bedford St Paul between William CHAMBERS and Elizabeth COOPER, my 6xg grandparents
If anyone has access to the transcript I'd appreciate a look up to see if there is any more detail, unlikely though that is. I'd love to be able to connect Elizabeth to my main Cooper line.
Many thanks in advance
David

Hi Carrie
They were from Southill, Beds - the full history is on a thread that we were working on a couple of days ago on the main Bedfordshire board, subject Finch - Southill. Whilst it started off as Finch it moved on to Chambers!
I found no evidence that any of them moved across to the west of England or Wales though.
Regards
David

Hi Carrie
The first Chambers mention in Southill was in 1635 with the marriage of John Chambers to Alice Miller. I'm not sure where he was from, although he may have been from the adjoining village of Clifton. The Southill parish register was an early one, starting in 1538, so he wasn't from there. But the west country is an awful long way to travel! These Chambers seem to have been thatchers.
It really was an interesting thread to work on, and shows the benefit of two people bouncing ideas and data backwards and forwards
Regards
David

Thanks very much John, a bit like the curate's egg, good in parts! One excellent result, the other much as I expected. Pre 1754 you're lucky of you get anything more than the names of the two parties.
Thanks again. Six mixed good local reds were purchased while you were typing your message, and are awaiting you.
