Hi,

just wondered if it was poss to look up the freshfield family in 1891 census?

I am trying to trace Marie Matilde Hoff, (aged 27yrs born in Alsace France), a governess for the Freshfield family during 1881 census.

On the night of the 1881 census Marie Hoff was the head of the household
as well as their two children Cicely.R. Freshfield, (aged 10yrs) & Frances.M Freshfield, (aged 13yrs). There was also 4 x female servants & 1 x male servant.

Their address was: 64, Westbourne Terrace. London. Middlesex.

I am trying to find any connections to Marie Hoff & thought that by finding out about the Freshfield family it may help in the search?? I know that by 1891 Marie Hoff was probably out of the country.

If anyone also knows how a foreign governess in those days would have been recruited, this would also help me to build up a picture of her status & employment???

I would be most grateful for any help!!!!

This looks like the Freshfield family, no sign of Marie Hoff on the 1891 census.
