Hi Selena,

Not sure about the 1930's, - but you might find this guide to SW5 interesting:

Cheers, Romilly.

Gosh...

A 3-bed flat in SW5 costs over a million £'s!!! See:

http://www.findaproperty.com/areadetails.aspx?edid=00&salerent=0&areaid=0194

(I bet it wasn't that much in the 1930's:-)))

Do you mean Cromwell Mansions? Cromwell Mansions are/were numbers 193 to 239 Cromwell Road. They were built in 1887-89 by Myers and Company as two apartment blocks with 12 flats in each. There are some interesting details about their construction and the initial rent on the British History site http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.asp?compid=50327.

Looking at the occupants in the 1921 PO Directory it looks very upmarket! There were a couple of Honourables, a baronet, and a KCMG.

no idea, but i know she stayed longer than normal in nazareth house because of her lameness.which she had from birth.she was placed in the home when her father died in 1895.she would've been around 11.her mother went on to remarry but she  did not go back to live with her.even though her mother had more children Smiley
