Kington
« on: Wednesday 11 April 07 22:52 BST (UK) »

I have seen reference to a Kington History Society in an earlier post

does anyone know what type of records they hold and how I get in touch?

My Arrowsmiths seem to originate in this area but there are a confusing array of them on familysearch and I need help to sort them out. (and hopefully prove a link from mine to them!)

thanks

There are Arrowsmith marriages going back to 1670s and 80s in Kington

thanks EBN

I will drop them a line.

I have seen the marriages but it is a case of which one fits my tree? I was at Hereford Record office yesterday and noted the burials at Kington (helpfully indexed in a book) which has weeded out a few but I still can't make sense of the rest.

Just before I had to go I found a reference to a will of William Arrowsmith of Kington but had no time to look further (isn't it typical that something interesting turns up just before you have to leave!)

I am not sure when I will next be going but wills be first on my list next tine.

In the meantime I will write to Kington.

thanks for the interest

James and Hannah Arrowsmith living Bredwardine (married there in 1813)

had 10 children including husband's gt gt grandfather George b 1830 Bredwardine.

have followed all the children down through the census to 1901 - apart from Edmund who was in the rifle brigade and disappears after 1871.
