Hi Byron. Thank you very much for finding the baptism of Abraham Chamberlain. I didnt have his exact date of birth or know who his parents were so this is great information.
I assume that you must have been looking at the Barton Seagrave parish records, if you dont mind if you do look at the parish records again for your own research would you be able to keep your eye out for any more possible brothers and sisters to Abraham Chamberlain, children of William and Elizabeth, or any information that you see on William and Elizabeth such as their marriage.
Unfortunately due to ill health I cannot get to see parish records myself, so your help has been very much appreciated.
Thank you so much Caron

Hi caron,
I noted down these at the time from Barton Seagrave-
Abraham s William & Elizabeth Chamberlain bapt 1 Nov 1795 (bur Jun 1801) William s William & Elizabeth Chamberlain bapt Oct 1799
Elizabeth Chamberlain aged 65 bur 27 Feb 1831
Either Wm & Eliz didn't have many children or they were having them somewhere else Abraham seems to have been named after a deceased older brother - apparently this was quite the thing to do in those days

thank you so much for the information on Abraham Chamberlains family.
I now have Abrahams parents names, and also a note of an elder brother Abraham who died as an infant, and William another brother born 1799.
I have noticed that in the 1851 census Abraham has a William Chamberlain aged 51 and Ann Chamberlain aged 51 from Geddington staying with him. That is obviously his brother and sister in law.
I have now been able to find a marriage between William Chamberlain and Ann Turner from Geddington in 1823, so that has now given me some more information to add to my tree!
I have found some marriages between a William Chamberlain and and Elizabeth at the end of 1790s but one is is Wellingborough in 1706 (both people of this parish) and William of Wold to Elizabeth Taylor of this parish in Isham in 1793. If one of them had William from Barton Seagrave it would be more likely.
Do you have a census index for 1861 to help me track Abraham Chamberlains and William Chamberlains families?
Abraham died in 1866, so I should still be able to find him in 1861. He was living in 1851 at Huxloe Seagrave North, Abraham 44, Eliza 36, Ann born Geddington aged 51. William aged 51 from Barton Seagrave William 18, Robert 15, Susan 12, Thomas 10 Eliza 9 Hannah 4 John 3 Marianne 1.
12 people in one house must have been cramped!
Obviously we do not know if his brother William and sister in law Ann were still living with him.
Many thanks for your help. You have given me a great deal of information,
Caron

thank you so much for finding me the Chamberlain details from the Barton Seagrave records. I am absolutely delighted.
Regarding the burials, The only Chamberlains I dont know about are Jane 1819 Frances 1819 and Mary Ann Chamberlain 1860. All the others were from my family.
You found the burials of Abraham Chamberlain and his wife Ann, and his brother William who was married to Ann (plus their marriage details) (I am now wondering who Mary Chamberlain is who was a witness at the marriage of William and Ann in 1823 in Geddington.!
You also found Abrahams parents William who died in 1841 and Elizabeth who died in 1831. The only information I am missing now is William Chamberlains marriage to Elizabeth late 1790s.
This has got me on a lot further, thank you very much for helping me with this research, it is very much appreciated.
What a kind person you are! Kind regards caron

Hi caron, I would imagine that the burial for Mary Ann Chamberlain aged 7 in 1857 is probably that of Abraham's daughter Marianne who is 1 in the 1851 census.
The Frances & Jane look like a mother and daughter set but I haven't any other info on them at the moment.

thanks Sandy for letting me have a note of these William Chamberlain marriages.
I know that my ancestor Abraham is the son of William and Elizabeth Chamberlain who was (bapt 10 August 1806) as this information came from Barton Seagrave Parish Records. Bryon kindly looked this information up for me as I am unable to look at parish records myself due to ill health.
I see you have found four possibles parents, I think that the bottom two are the best matches, as their first child was Abraham who was bapt 1/11/1795 and was buried 06 1801. My Abraham was born in 1806 and took the same name. We are therefore looking for a marriage before 1795, so I think the bottom two names are in the right time frame. I dont believe the baptism records would give the maiden name for Elizabeth, to know if either of these could be the parents of my Abraham. I will keep the names on file ,
Thank you very much for your kind help Caron
