« on: Thursday 12 April 07 12:18 BST (UK) »

Hello,
please can some one have a look at the 1891 census and see if they can find my greatgrandfather. His name is Thomas Hill,he was born about 1886 probaly North Yorkshire. There is no fathers name on his marriage certificate so he may have been illegitimate or worse an orphan. That is all i have of him.

Just a had look on the free bmd now checking the complete in dex for 1885/1886

Cant find anything registered for him in Middlesbrough. Sad

Take a look at this link,  strangely there is a Thomas Hill un 48 Labour in Iron Works born Ireland resident there in 1881 ,MIGHT be his father but does not help with his mother though.  Huh

There should be some records somewhere for 1891

I'm so sorry, I hope you don't mind me interupting Patrish?  Smiley

http://www.middlesbrough-indexes.co.uk/search.php

According to the above site there is a Thomas Hill, b.1885, but birth registered in the district of Stockton on Tees. Could be a possibility worth considering?

Kind regards,

Pels
