Please could you look and see if there is any mention of

Jonathan KERSEY(Keisy or Casey) and Elizabeth HANSON

married around 1759 Appleby by Licence in the Carlisle Marriage Licence and Bonds

or any other Kerseys, Kearseys or Hansons from 1740 in Westmorland.

That seemed to be the only Kersey (or variant) entry.

There are three more Hanson entries but one is for Penrith and one for Calisle:

3 Feb 1712/3 Robert Hanson (signs Anson), Penrith, plummer
and
11 Nov 1748 John Hanson widower in Carlisle

Let me know if you want the details for these Cumberland entries.  The third entry is for Westmorland:

18 Jan 1755/6
James Hanson, Coulby p Appleby, 21, bch, hsbm
Eleanor Smith, a minor, Netherhoff p Appleby
bondsman: Thomas Smith, Netherhoff, hsbm
Thomas is her father
wedding to take place at Appleby

Do the Marriage Bonds go up to 1802 if so would it be possible to look up
Mary KERSEY and John RICHARDSON dated 1802. Appleby.

Gtreat that you got some additional information!

The books I have only cover upto 1762 and are an index to the destroyed originals.

I don't know anything about the status of marriage licences/bonds after this time.  Maybe a call to Carlisle Record Office?
