HEARD/PETHICK
« on: Friday 13 April 07 14:03 BST (UK) »

Hi All

I have the marriage certificate for my husbands paternal grt grandparents in Week St Mary, John Heard and Mary Ann Stacey May 3 1855.  John gives his father's name as William Pethick occupation Farmer.

I have been searching and can find the Pethick family but as yet no link to Heard family.  On census John Heard gives his birth as about 1828 Launcells.

Marriage witnesses marks were William Stacey - presumably Mary Ann's father and Catherine Heard.  I've yet to find What relation this Catherine was to John Heard.

Can anyone help me with this please?

Thanks

looks like the connection might have been unofficial. There's an extracted record on the IGI batch no C053381 Launcells
John Heard bp 15/5/1828 son of Ann Heard - no father given.
Roll Eyes
There's no opc for Launcells to check with.

Think that might be her living next door to John in 1851, gives pob as Launcells and she's unmarried HO107/1897 folio 239 pg 9

there's a William Pethick in St Mary Week in 1841 (apologies to any family members if this is the wrong man)
Kitsham HO107/151/11 folio 29 pg 8
Theophilus Pethick 85 farmer
Ann 75
Thomas 38
William 35

and also one in Launcells in 1851 and 1861 but he's a thatcher

I'm not finding an obvious Catherine in 1851 - there's one in Stratton aged 12 part of a large family parents George & Jannet living in the Post Office. In 1861 there's a 30 year old unmarried Catherine Heard in Stratton workhouse with her 9 month old daughter Matilda - can't find her in 1851, her pob given as Poundstock.
