Joseph Williams b 1878, Father is Charles b 1854 and Mother is Eliza b 1856. At the time of the 1881 census, Charles and Eliza were living at 1 Beauchamp St London. Charles's occupation Printer. There were 3 other children beside Joseph: George, Charles & the youngest Alice who was 7 months at the time of the census. Joseph married Sarah Burles in 1909.
Sarah Burles birth registered Stepney 1882. I think Sarah's parents were Nathan Burles and Jane who married Enfield 1871. Nathan b c1840. I can't find a Nathan and Jane Burles on the 1881 census. Any help very much appreciated

I can't see Nathan and Jane either but the one matching Sarah I see has different parents

You are correct.
It is Sarah with B crossed out and Harriet with B crossed out no other second initials are crossed out on the page. The enumerator must have listed them by mistake.

Thank you Pam & Tanja I don't definately know the names of Sarah Burles parents. Someone else gave me the names but they may have it wrong. I was thinking, that as I couldn't find a Nathan and Jane on the 1881 census, maybe they could have died. I've looked on the BMD and can't even find a death entry for a Nathan Burles. there's a death for a Jane Burles in Hackney 1875, but the ages are way out.  That's defiantely the right details for the Williams family Of course the only way to find out properly will be to get the birth certificate. Anyway ladies, thank you both very much for your input.
