I hunted many irish boards and suddenly decided I would try England and  at
http://www.freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl  found an outside chance
Marriages in  quarter year starting Sep 1903   (>99%)
Stebbings  Prudence    Merthyr T.  11a 1069 Spouse not mentioned
Good luck onwards if you can get a copy of the marriage certificate if and only if she married your David, or sorry its an expensive red herring, and yet......
Hope it isnt, Jim

Babs, then Iwas interrupted and got back to looking for your David
Bingo
Marriages Sep 1903   (>99%)
MCCORMICK  David Neill     Merthyr T.  11a 1069  What will the marriage certificate reveal i wonder, eg witnesses could be parents etc, all places will be important.
Lets hope you can work backwards, his religion may help etc  If I find anything more I will let you know.
All the best, Jim

Yes, moving over to www.familysearch.com there are a few Stebbings in Wales and in particular see the Census entries  - 1881 British Census
Harriett A. STEBBINGS   Birth: <1857> Merthyr Tidvil, Glamorgan, Wales
possibly a male line comes into Wales witjh
Thomas STEBBINGS - 1881 British Census / Glamorgan
Head    Birth: <1848> Ditton, Suffolk, England
there are a few others to note.
While I was hunting for McCormicks in Belfast I was useing Mary Lennons belfast street directory website use google to find, there was one McCormick painter in the 1880 directory
I must stop again.  Good luck onwards, Jim

Hugh it is then.
You have mentioned a Dundonald graveyard reference, but I didnt question how many generations were buried there. Below you can get a free look up of the inscription or buy the microfilm.

I presume it’s your reference is the same as from www.historyfromheadstones.com/
Dundonald CI   Dundonald   Church Quarter   McCORMICK, ORR
These inscriptions were published in Vol.2 of Co Down Graveyard inscriptions, published by the Ulster Historical Foundation, Belfast
And currently available from www.booksireland.org.uk/index, but its microfiche
Microfiche of Gravestone Inscriptions Vol 2 North Down: Boardmills, Dundonald, Knockbreda, etc.  Author: R. S. J. Clarke Publisher: Ulster Historical Foundation
Format: Fiche Read More] Members'-price:£5.14    Web-price:£5.71    RRP £6.00

More about that church from Ros Davies website
Church of Ireland-St Elizabeth's Dundonald. freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~rosdavies/PHOTOSwords/DundonaldAll.htm
records- baptismal register 1811-1845,marriages 1811-1844 & burials 1823-1881 & Vestry Minute Book 1808-1923 at PRONI D310/2,T2438 graveyard attached , gravestone inscriptions UHF Vol 2 ; email me for a gravestone look-up [that’s generosity for you.]
Nearby is the Presbyterian church with lots of records and no graveyard of course.
That occupation Butler is intriguing and annoying. If the butler lived in the Landed Gentry house, they wont be mentioned in Street directories.

Have you seen the website www.emeraldancestors.com/search/births/viewlistbirths.asp?County=&Surname=McCormick&Forenames=Hugh, there are marriages as well.
Keep going, Jim

Death certificate, unless fairly recent, would not list date or place of birth- only age in years as supplied by informant.
Am puzzled as to why you would need death certificate to get birthdate if you already have birth certificate- or do you mean to say that you can't find birth certificate?. If the latter is the case then the birth could be registered as David, rather than David Neil, or simply as a male child with no first name yet chosen. See note below
IGI does list 2 sons of Hugh McCormick and Margaret Neil but not a David.

Since your original post the 1911 census for Co, Down has been put online (free) so you might want to look for the family there now if you haven't already done so.
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search

Had a look at Index to Irish civil registrations and found David:
BIRTH David Neill Mccormick Apr/Jun 1878 Belfast registration district, volume 1 page 447
