Re Look up for 5 Hillgrove Place Bristol On the previous message I left off the name of my ggggrandfather

I am trying to find where my ggggrandfather John wilson died and where he might be buried   he died on the 13th of Dec 1851. Can any one tell me where Hillgrove Place is situated. it comes under the Sub district of ASHLEY   registration District being Clifton

Hope someone can shed some light on this for me     Regards   Ken

Hi Ken

This chap is the nearest I can find to your chap in 1851.  He is not at the same address, but should be in the vicinity (I believe Ashley is in the Clifton Downs area).  Given that he is a lodger, he might have moved on?

HO107/1954/26/45

John WILSON lodger U 70 - tailor - Bristol

Address: Gt Anne St? Bristol St Philip & St Jacob

kind regards, Arranroots

p.s. not sure exactly where Hillgrove Place might have been.

The Hillgrove Place address shows up in the 1881 census.
You can 'walk' the area by looking at neighbours until you reach addres(es) you can place.

Well spotted Pauline

It seems to be part of Hillgrove Street, which still exists.
