DocumentsOnline.

A new project to digitise the First World War 'Medal Rolls' (Campaign
Medal Index cards) has just been launched. These cards, which number
almost 5.5 million, record the medal entitlement of all individuals -
men and women, officers and soldiers - who fought in the British Army
and Royal Flying Corps during the Great War, and form perhaps the most
complete listing of all those who fought. The cards will be released
alphabetically, according to the surname of the individual. Check the
website

www.DocumentsOnline.pro.gov.uk

for further details on this exciting project.

I understand the letter 'A' & 'B' are now completed and on line

The medal shown below is an example of "The Distinguished Flying Cross"

The PRO have put the index to WW2 medals awarded to mercantile seamen online at

http://www.documentsonline.nationalarchives.gov.uk/browse-refine.asp?CatID=12&searchType=browserefine&pagenumber=1&query=*&queryType=1

I've already found one of mine.
