I have been searching but cannot find this birth. Any ideas please?
Harriett Ellen HODGE born between, I would think, 1909 and 1912. Mother's surname CHEESLEY. Likely places of Birth: Chelsea, Fulham, Ealing, Brentford.
Her name was found on the Electoral Roll in Ealing. She was included on there at least from 1930 to 1940. I have concluded that she must have been a daughter - If I can't find the birth, I will have to wait until the 1911 census is released.
Any thoughts welcome. Rosie

Hi Rosie
Women didn't get the vote in the UK until 1918 and had to be aged 30 or more. The minimum age was reduced to 21 in 1928.
If Harriett appeared on the electoral register in 1930, she cannot have been born any later than 1909 - possibly much earlier.
I assume you have her parents in the 1901 census* and that Harriet wasn't around - so we are looking at a birth between 1901 and 1909?
I should also ask why you think she was a daughter. Couldn't she have been the wife of a married son? Or doesn't the time frame stack up?
* The birth of an Ellen Harriet Hodge was registered in 1897 in St George in the East (which is why I make this point).

Hello Francis & Suzard
Thanks for responding. This is what I have on the family.
George Edward HODGE (c1844) married Ellen CHEESLEY (c1881) in Chelsea, during February 1906.
Their first child, George A G Hodge, was born Chelsea, February 1906.
The other "known" child Edward Vincent HODGE born Fulham 1908.
After 1911 all births listed give the mother's maiden name. Also, note that both boys have one or other of their father's christian names. The name Harriett is also used within the family and the name Ellen is the mother's name.
I always believed there was a daughter within the family but did not have her name. Having said that, I take on board your comments that she could be a daughter-in-law and will keep an open mind.
The mother, Ellen, died in 1924.
George Edward Sen., is listed as Householder at the address in the Electoral Rolls for Ealing from about 1923. In 1940 the family are still at the same address. However, George jr., does not appear at the address from 1927.
I hope that I haven't confused you too much!!
Thanks, Rosie
