Walton on the Hill
« on: Thursday 19 April 07 15:09 UTC (UK) »

Hi

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if  there are any Parish records for Walton on the Hill on line

I have just found that one of my rellies moved to Walton and started their family in Walton before moving back to the Gloucestershire area.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Hi

There are a variety of records for that area - can you tell us exactly what it is and who you are looking for and particularly what period is involved so we can break it down for you

Hello Carole & E.Hoey

Thank you for getting back to me.
I am looking for the baptisms of two children who were both born at Walton on the Hill.  They are Francis and Albert Gastrill/Gastrell.  Francis was Born 1/4 - 9/1884 & Albert born c1887.  I found both boys on the 1901 census with their parents George & Mary Gastrill/Gastrell.

I have the marriage records for the couple as they were married at St Philip & St James Cheltenham.

Thank you for your help.

Kind regards

Hi

I found both boys on the 1901 census with their parents George & Mary Gastrill/Gastrell.

Only Francis is on the 1901 with his parents (see below) and he is just shown as b Liverpool.  The family were living in the civil parish of Walton on the Hill - address 13 Chelsea Rd

There is a Nelly Gastrell aged 24 b Darwen shown as a boarder

Deaths - Albert Gastrell December qtr 1893 aged 5 Liverpool 8B 88
The 1891 entry does show Albert aged 2 and the family were at 47 Eastbourne Rd at that time

Christenings (if they happened) could take place weeks or months after a birth so you would really need to know the date or the name of the church in which they were christened

There is nothing on either the IGI or the BVRI which are the main sources of baptisms

This is the birth ref for Francis (which you already have)

Sep 1884  GASTRELL  Francis     West Derby  Volume 8b Page519

And I found Alberts on Lancashire BMD www.lancashirebmd.org.uk

Lancashire Birth indexes for the years: 1888

GASTRELL Albert Kirkdale Liverpool   KIRK/60/37

GRO ref is June qtr 1888 West Derby 8B 380
