I have been passed some 1841 census notes covering the Morgan family with an address of Kingsholm Buildings No 5 Gloucester. The Morgan's were a family of 7 and included George Morgan c.1801, Anne Morgan c.1816 + 5 others. The same address also shows 7 others of various names born between 1816-1821. (My interest is in Maria Wheeler born c.1826 Gloucester). 1841 did not record relationships/occupations so the 7 others may have been servants, lodgers or something else? Somehow, the address does not ring true as a large private residence.
Is wonder if anyone has access to 1841 and could look at an adjacent address which might give a clue to the activities in No 5, for example, was next door also a large property

The Morgan family are bracketed together but it does look like some kind of lodging. The others are all much the same age and apart from Maria they are all curriers. The rest of Kingsholm buildings looks much the same with families and groups of servants. It is on Tewksbury road and described as a Hamlet if that is any use.

Interesting to come across a Currier, an occupation swallowed up a long time ago. In 1841 Maria would be about 1815 and could well have been a servant, the rest is just a guess.
Useful to know the property location of Tewksbury Road. Many thanks for your reply.

Hi, I am looking up a George Morgan, born in Bristol, Gloucester (according to 1851 census) where he was residing in Sheerness, Kent. MArried to Sarah (Cooper?) of Portsea. I am struggling to find any information about George Morgan, do you think the George you talk of could be him? 1800 is the year of birth i have for him.
Regards,
Dave

There no way anybody could know if the Gloster George is the one you look for.
1800? Came from the census perhaps?
Try an LDS formula used for guessing "about" marriage dates in the IGI. Year of marriage is year of birth of first child minus one. Not a very good way perhaps but it might get you something if post 1837 and if you're clutching at straws!
Regards
Chas

Hello Susan
Thanks for picking up this thread but with the benefit of hindsight I was following the wrong Maria Wheeler
I would like to find Maria Wheeler born about 1853 in Gloucester but this thread is best cancelled and a new one started.
