I wonder if SKS could look up the details of William and Marion/Marianne/Mary Dixon in Rockcliff for me please in 1841?
William and his wife were from Mouswald Dumfries.

They may have a daughter Mary with them b Rockcliff 1840/1.
A further child John was born abt 1842 I think.

The family seem to use the name DICKSON in later years.

William DIXON 30, Ag Lab, b Scotland
Maria DIXON 25, b Scotland
Mary DIXON 8 months - Yes (born in Cumberland)

Thanks for this, just what I wanted.

I thought I had replied earlier in the day but post seems to have vanished into the ether!

Interesting the trouble people have with Rockcliffe. In 1851 the children are recorded as being born in Rocliff! They were in Gloucestershire at the time. Broad Scots accents and Cumberland names perhaps??
