Can someone do an 1851 census look up for the following family please?
Daniel Spence, married to Catherine Menzies Daughter Helen Spence born 1843 Daughter Sharon Spence born 1844

There is only one Daniel Spence on the 1851 census for greenock on sp unfortunately there is no image to view you would have to go on the site and order a copy elaine

The Daniel Spence, born c. 1831 and a carpenter, showing in Greenock I don't think may be the same one. He shows as living with his mother Catherine and family.
Shirley, I assume you made a typo when listing children to Daniel and Catherine, the daughter born in 1844 is showing as: JANET SHARP SPENCE Birth: 31 OCT 1844 East Parish, Greenock, Renfrew, Scotland.

I can't see Daniel as yet on the 1851, but this looks like mother Catherine staying at probably her parents:
Janet Menzies 54, b. Rothesay, Buteshire John Menzies 54, teacher of English, b. Greenock Mrs. Cathrine Spence 32, daughter, b. Greenock Helen Spence 7, b. Greenock Janet Spence 5, b. Greenock
