Looking for John Emberson
« on: Sunday 25 January 09 18:35 UTC (UK) »

Hello

I am looking for records of the birth or baptism of John Emberson Senior of Garnetts Farm, Great Waltham. He was the first Deacon of Little Waltham Congregational Church and was buried there in 1823. His wife was Hannah (almost certainly Hannah Westley of Glemsford) and his parents were almost certainly Thomas Emberson and Sarah Radley. I think he was born around 1740 probably in the Great Waltham area or surrounding parishes but I have not been able to find any record of him. I would love to get some new information regarding John as I am no longer living in the UK and so research has become more difficult.

Hoping someone out there can help.

I have lots of John Embersons in my family, mine originated in Essex, mainly coming from the danbury area. I have traced them back to 1760. I came from Mountnessing in Essex,

lammy rider,

I'd certainly be interested to hear from you. As you probably know, most Embersons originated in Essex - and many of those in the Chelmsford area. I suspect we share a common ancestor - John Emberson - who, I think, was born in 1740.

Do get in touch - (*)

Regards, John E

Hi Laurie,

There are quite a number of Essex parish registers online in the EROs SEAX online records.

There is a link to them in "Essex Resources" on this site.

Regards.

Hi Laurie,

For people like myself who live too far away from Essex to visit the ERO (I do get there every second year for a couple of weeks), being able to view the PRs online in the comfort of your home is a real Godsend, I'm extremely grateful to the ERO staff for putting so many PRs online.

By the way I believe I saw quite a few Embersons in the Roxwell or possibly one of the Rodings PRs.

Regards and good luck.
