I know where HOSGOOD STEPS are in BRIXHAM but does anyone know why they are named and for what reason?

Well... I know it sounds obvious but Hosgood is a surname so it was probably named simply for a person who was from the area.

Yes Hosgood was the name of masons that were in my family  .
I came across this when i was searching for something else in a search engine....

Hello there,

The story goes that George Hosgood (my g. g.grandfather) a builder in Brixham built a house for each for his eleven children. Walter also a mason lived in one of the properties at the top of these steps. Hence the name!
