Hi All,
I don't know where to start.................. I guess I need lots of advice and HELP!!
I have been trying to find a Birth/ Baptism of Lillian Deverell HARGREAVES who was born in 1868 in Devonport.
Her father Charles Hargreaves, was in the Military as a Color Sergeant and was stationed there and around Lillian's birth.
Her mother's name was Mary Jane (Deverell) Hargreaves.
How can I get a copy of her Birth/Bapt??
As I don't know where to look.

Hi Wendy
I've got my fingers crossed! Once you've registered, so that they know where to send the certificates to, you fill in the details that you have. The important thing is to check the box that says 'Do you know the GRO reference) or something like that. Then they can find the certificate based on name, year and reference

I've had a go at filling in the form myself to see if you'll run into any problems. I know the birth was in England, but if you check that option the site expects you to know the quarter the birth was in and the regimental indexes aren't organised like that 
Because the Regimental births were all over the world, you'll have to select the option 'Overseas Birth' and then put Devonport Vol 90 Page 14 in the Reference box.
Hope this makes sense! I have successfully ordered really wierd cetrtificates this way before (births in Greece, deaths in Africa etc) so it should be ok....

I'm trying to help someone in Canada find an English ancestor who was born in India, if that makes sense!
How did you access the Regimental Birth Index, or can it only be done via findmypast.com?
