THOMPSON AND BRYSON
« on: Wednesday 25 April 07 07:43 BST (UK) »

I am looking for a William Bryson Thompson, who may have used an alias William Bryson.  Believed to be born in Paisley c. 1829.  Had a brother James and mother, Ellen.  Came to Australia in 1843.  Any help appreciated.

Hello Sharkey,

Do you know when James was born?

I tried to find the family in the 1841 census, but could not find any conclusive match.

At 16 John Street, High parish, Paisley, there was the following family:

John Thomson, 50, silk hand loom weaver, born in Renfrewshire
Archibald Thomson, 15, born in Renfrewshire
William Thomson, 13, born in Renfrewshire
James Thomson, 11, born in Renfrewshire

Does this look likely? Justin

Justin
I have just "rediscovered" rootschat.  Thanks for your reply on Bryson/Thompson.

I believe my William Thompson may be the William Bryson who was in Paisley Prison, a 20 year old Dyer
at the time of the 1841 census.  he was eventually transported to Australia as William Thompson.

Is there a family anywhere on the census with a mother Ellen (either Bryson or Thompson) and a brother James, born about 1815-1825.
