The plot thickens
In 1881 the Mary Ann Bettington born Bosbury (as per your original post)
is stated as being born approx 1853, thus making her 28 then.
She is in the household of her parents William and Caroline Bettington, and also present is their grandson, Charles, age 12 - who of course could well be an illegitimate child of Mary Ann's.
Their address is the Brook, Bosbury, and ref is RG11 2581 15 4
This is Ledbury reg area, so with such an unusual surname it is likely this is the Mary Ann Bettington that marries in 1886 (though of course one cannot assume that without getting a cert or viewing the parish record, or some other secondary evidence to back it up)
but - she doesnt marry Sidney Davies! who, if the d-0-b you give is correct, is 15 years her senior.

In 1881 the Sidney Davies, born Ashperton, and found by tati in 1891, was with his parents John and Elizabeth (which agrees with 1891) as a 13 year old. It is indexed Davis - I havnet looked at actual image.
Ref RG11 2583 42 4
Address 'near school house' Ashperton!

yeah, i think i need to go back to square 1 with sidney , on the 1901 census for mary ann both her children were born in northumberland same as alice who was at the time living with her grandparents, they had a daughter mary ann living with them in an earlier census,

i have 1881 census with mary ann living with her parents in bosbury, herefordshire
i have 1891 census they were living in ashperton
Just re read through this thread - but I got even more confused! The 1881 you refer to here is, presumably, what I just found and posted. But - 1891 - are you saying she is still with parents? We have a Mary Ann married to Sidney by then - though not this Mary Ann! Also - if the children were born in Northumberland around this time, I would have thought they could be living up north in 1891 census - where did the info on the children's birth's come from?

Have found the family in 1891 - father is William.

that is fantastic,
o alice davies marriage cert i just dug out of my ever increasing large folder of census sheets and it has sidney davies as her father , maybe that is what he was known as. he was deceased when she married my great grandad so maybe she thought that was his name

no i havn't unfortunatley but it all seemed to click into place i found alice davies first, looked up bettington,as she was living with them and being there grand daughter then slowly went through the bettingtons children until i found a match. and it came with mary ann and the children being born in northumberland the same as alice.and she also then had the surname davies.

all i had wwas her date of birth and where she was living at time of marriage which was stanley hill, bosbury.sidney davies was deceased at time of marriage

yes it matches, on her marriage cert which was 1911, she was 20 so would make hewr born 1891 same as the census records
