Ellen Lapraick Brown

Can anyone help? I am looking for Ellen Lapraick Brown born in Ayrshire in 1870 It could be her listed in 1901 census as a Hospital Nurse in Essex. I believe she married and possibly moved to Leicestershire. Any info would be great. Thanks

I have a fear this will be a non starter without any more detailed info!

Scottish records are separate from those of England and Wales, making it even more difficult.

She could have gone back to Scotland to marry, for example.

The only help you have is the unusual middle name - but I see thta does not appear in the 1901 entry you refer to - whatmakes you think that is her?

Is it possible to work backwards - do you know when she died? or her married name?

All the info I have is her past and she disappears from Scotland in abt 1891 My husband remembers her and thinks she died in the 1950's and thinks she married someone whose first name was Alf vary vague info.

Do you know anything about her parents? Or can find from her death cert.

If you can then find their deaths you may be lucky and find either: daughter Ellen registers one or both deaths, which would give her name and address, or that they left wills, which could give Ellen's married name.

Did she have siblings - again trcing them might bring up a mention of Ellen as, maybe a witness to a marriage, or registering a death, or mentioned in a will.

hopefully suddenly something will pop up with a mention of her which narrows down where she was, when!
