1841 & 1851 Census Downs/Downes
« on: Thursday 02 December 04 05:37 UTC (UK) »

(a) 1841 Census looking for:   Joseph Downs/Downes and wife Mary.

I have been given the following details where the name Downs/Downes apparently was noted on the 1841 for Sturton le Steeple - Piece 851 book 15, Folio 10 & 11,  Habblesthorpe - Piece 849 book 15 Folio 5.

Joseph was christened March 1794 Sturton Cum Fenton, also seen it referred to as Sturton le Steeple.  I have found three sons on the 1871 census as born in Sturton ( George, John, Joseph and Edward in Habblesthorpe).

(b) 1851 Census looking for:   Edward Smith Downs/Downes and he may have had a wife named Hannah in 1851.

Edward was christened Aug 1820, Sturton Cum Fenton (on the 1871 - 1891 Census his place of birth is shown as Habblesthorpe).

I have been given the following details where the name Downs/Downes apparently was noted on the 1851 for Sturton le Steeple - Piece 2121 Folio 286 - 300, and others on 287.

Appreciate any help on either of my look up requests.  Kanga
