Thanks Cas for that, it does look like the right family.

I've located the following on the 81C; Samuel Coslett, W, 63, Smith, Fairwater GLA; Edward Coslett, son, Smith, 19, St Fagans GLA; Mary Coslett, daug, housekeeper, 30, St Fagans.

and to take it a step further I located Edward Cosslett, H, 30, smith, St Fagans on the 91C

Thanks again for your help

Hi, I'm new to this and can't work out how to contact you directly. I'm researching the Cossletts who lived in Radyr in 1841. I think the head of the household Edward, born Fairwater, may be the brother of the Samuel you have. Edward was also a smith. Do you have any info you could share, thanks, Richard

Hello Richard
I am sorry but unfortunately any files I had on Samuel Cosslett have long gone.  All detiails I would have had you will find here on rootschat.  My interest in him stemmed from a college project on the village of St Fagans.
Best of luck with your research

Thanks. Both Edward, my ancestor, and Samuel, the St Fagans blacksmith, say on the 1871 census that they were born in Fairwater, hence my interest. Richard
