I have registered ok for my free RootsChat webspace and have had problems trying to upload the site that I have designed for my Family Tree.
I can connect ok - I am using CuteFTP v. 5.0XP as the FTP transfer software - but when I try to upload my FTP software crashes and says "access denied, you do not have permission to perform this function".
I upload sites regularly and have not had a problem before.
The trouble is that you tried to connect using "annonymous" FTP.
If you enter your FTP username, and the password you chose then it will be fine (ie - on Cute FTP, you need to check that you are trying to connect by "Normal" FTP, not by "Anonymous" FTP).
Other people who get the same error will see "mail" and "pub" as folders if they try and use "anonymous" FTP.

Did what you said and changed from Anonymous to Normal and uploaded the site just fine.
Thanks for help.
By the way, if anyone is new to uploading websites and needs good, easy to use and FREE FTP transfer software, I could suggest Core FTP Lite 1.3 which is available on the www.download.com website.
