Have access to Auchterderran school records from 1900-1920's. Cost me a lot of money so want to share with anyone I can so it's not a waste. Anyone with an ancestor in Auchterderran that would have gone to school around this time please ask for look-up.
Thanks Elaine

Hi Matthew,
You and me both! I was related to half the village when I was growing up and still have many family there still.
William Herd DOB: Feb 15th 1890 Father: James Herd Address: Whitehall Last school attended: Auchterderan primary school
If you send me your address I can send you the original document instead of typing all the info out. There's probably a lot more.

Hi Elaine,
Just wondering if you have a Frank Hird in your school records. I know he is from that area just not too sure where. Really stuck finding that part of my family.
Many Thanks
Tara

Hi,
Are you sure it is HIRD and not Herd. I can't find a Frank Hird but plenty of Herd's.

Hi Elaine,
Thankyou for looking for me. It is Hird as far as i know. Also thankyou to Matthew. What it is, is my great grandad and great grandma eloped to England. He was from Scotland and she was from Ireland. Both families disowned them. She was going to marry below her. All i really know is that he was from the Fife area. Born 29th Nov 1895. On their wedding cert. he says that his father is called Thomas and he is deceased. They got married in 1923. So if this rings any bells in family history i would be grateful for any help.
Many Thanks
Tara

Hi Tara,
I had a quick look at the 1881 census for Fife to see if there were any HIRD's and there isn't one. There are Thomas Herd's, but no Frank's. Actually there's no HIRD's at all.
Following the naming patterns it would be expected at least one other with that name. Another tip is that Frank or Francis is an Irish/Catholic name. Not always of course but often. His family may also have been Irish.
The best thing you can do is go to Scotlandspeople and find his birth cert. With his date of birth and father's name it shouldn't be too difficult. Once you get that, your puzzle will start to fit together. We all seem to have someone in our family that is a mystery! I have a couple too!
Good luck Elaine

It would be of interest to me to know if there are any bearing the Welsh surname in your school records. My great grandfather left Cardenden before 1890, in his early thirties, but the rest of his brothers and sisters remained in the area, some descendants, mostly not called Welsh anymore, as seems mostly daughters stayed on, in Auchterderran to this day. So I might get some complimentary information to lines I have followed from his siblings, even if my own line will be missing. Cheers
