Forfarian

Re marriages at work - didn't take into consideration about working away from home.

In this case it was the groom who appears to have been working away from his hometown in England.  The bride was from Dundee.

Elizabeth

Got that image and it's fine, thankyou.  This is definitely the correct Frederick you have found, as I recognised Baledgarno, the name appears on the marriage cert.  You're a STAR!!!!

Don't quite understand the 27.25m AM (think that is what it says).  Obviously something to do with the time - any suggestions???

Hi again just looked at the image and its just the way they have written the time of death.  Its 2h:25 AM so it was recorded in the morning rather than 14:25 PM or 2:25PM.

That makes more sense.  I was obviously misreading the 'h' for a 7.

Just noticed mention of Baledgarno. Just in case you don't know, this was a planned village for the workers on Lord Kinnaird's lands around his home at Rossie Priory. A pretty little spot which I passed again on Saturday. Some of my ancestors worked there.  Kinnaird had a lot of Engilsh connections and my lot recalled playing cricket and dancing around Maypoles!

See http://www.geograph.org.uk/gridref/NO2730 for a photo of Baledgarno.

IMBER
Thank you for the information on Baledgarno.  Didn't know anything of the village, not being from Scotland myself and having just recently found it's name on a marriage certificate.  It's nice to know a little of it's history and this would make sense as this chap was a woodcutter.

Do you know if there is a cemetery nearby to the village?

Appreciate the link Forfarian - looks a very pretty and tranquil place.

There are quite a number of churches in the immediate area, quite a large one at Inchture which seems to have had Kinnaird connections. Quite close to the village is the church at Kirkton with others at Abernyte and Kinnaird. I suspect all of these would belong to the Established Church. Take a look at GENUKI Perthshire for more info or just google generally.
