Fantastic!  Thanks Again Pels  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I think Frances was at school or boarding in Findon in 1841 after the death of her parents in 1833 & 1835.

I thought Martha looked familar - it seems an unfortunate choice
of description though? "Inmate"!  Undecided

1841 census:
HO107/1095/6, folio 12, page 18

Sussex, Findon

Martha Brown, 50, Smith
Mariam, 18, Smith
Amelia, 16, Smith
Emily, 12, Smith
Frances Pelling, 12, Inmate
Francis Pelling, 10, Inmate
Henry Pelling, 8, Inmate

All born in county

Cheers Pels  Cheesy Kiss

Seems like an odd description all around.  Even 12 yo Emily is a 'smith'  Huh

I though since they were 'inmates' it must be a school or institution!  Still Martha must've been OK if Frances entrusted her children to her in 1861.

BTW Uncle Henry died 11 April 1861, a few days after the census.

Thanks again for all your help!
