William Green b1781
« on: Friday 04 May 07 12:25 BST (UK) »

I cant get my Ancestry to load original images so can only get part information. Can someone look up a William Green b1781 - Herefordshire he married an Elizabeth and in 1841 Census was living in Hentland Herefordshire with his wife and children Joseph b1836 and Caroline b1831 - am trying to find out where William was born or any info that would help in my search?
Cant seem to find him on 1851 Census

On 1861 Census both William and Elizabeth living alone in Ross though the birth dates are slightly different!
Is it poss this is the same couple?

In my searching for Caroline and Joseph later on cant seem to find anything?

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

1841 Herefordshire Hentland HO107/431/6 4/3
William Green 60 ag lab Y
Elizabeth do 55 Y
Caroline do 10 Y
Joseph do 5 Y

On facing page is
John Green 56 ag lab Y
Elizabeth do 55 Y
Elizabeth Wagnor?? 20 Y

Trish

It would almost seem the children were grandchildren?  Having a child at 50 (or older - ages rounded down in 1841, seems unlikely)

When you only get a prt image loading - try using the refresh/reload - often works for me

Ages in 1861 match fairly well with 1851  (84  and 83)

I could literally kiss you - you have just unraveled who my G G Grandfathers parents were - He was Thomas Green b1803 Stoke Edith he first appeared on Berkeley Parish Records as being married in Hill, Gloucestershire 1831 then nothing til 1851 census where he living alone as a widower stating he was born in Stoke Edith (done extensive searching to no avail) with 3 of his children Joseph Caroline and George - his wife appeared to die shortly after childbirth with George early in 1840's hence the other two children living with Grandparents in Hentland!! Wow i didn't see the link apart from repeated christian names!  Did it say on 1841 census where William was born?

Do you think the other Greens on the page were related ie his son?

I also think Elizabeth Cooper was likely to have been Green what do you think?

Just found your post - kissing is allowed    Kiss  Kiss  Kiss      Grin   Grin

The 1841 census only gives born in county - Y or N - it does not give towns/parishes

I mentioned the others, because in those days folks living nearby with the same name could well be relations. If they were related, I would assume John Green would be a brother or cousin of William Green. It would seem very likely that Elizabeth Cooper was the daughter of William and Elizabeth Green - and as you mention, the same given names keep reappearing.

Keep searching  Smiley
