I apologize in advance for the length of this post, but I wanted to ensure that this information was presented clearly.
March 29, 1862 Elizabeth Booth married Obadiah Stafford at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Innisfil. Witnesses were George Booth and Robert Smith of Innisfil. (George Booth was sister of the bride, Robert Smith was brother-in-law of the bride) The marriage register lists him as 21 years old, she was 26. Obadiah and Elizabeth had 6 children: William James b. Feb 9, 1863 Flos Twp, Simcoe County d. Oct 9, 1868 Flos Twp. buried Elmvale Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Elmvale Ontario (named for her father – William Booth and her father –James Stafford) Mary Susan b. Sept 6, 1865 Flos Twp, Simcoe County d. Oct 5, 1869 Flos Twp. buried Elmvale Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Elmvale Ontario (Named for her mother – Mary Booth and his mother – Susan Stafford) Edward b. July 5, 1867 Flos Twp, Simcoe County d. Sept 28, 2868 Flos Twp. buried Elmvale Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Elmvale Ontario Fanny b. Jan 14, 1870 Flos Twp. m. Sept 4, 1895 Toronto to Richard Hensell. Obadiah Jr. b. 24 Aug 1871 Flos Twp. buried. 1947/03/07 Lloydminister Cemetery, Saskatchewan Louisa b. July 3, 1875, Flos Twp. m. Apr 24, 1899 Toronto to Frederick Read 1534-99 (MS 932 Reel #97)d. March 8, 1916, Toronto (on the 1901 census she was living with my great grandmother in Toronto. Her husband was in Alberta with the Frank Stafford family) Their first child, Blanche was born and died in my great grandmothers home.
August 29, 1862 William Booth purchased the N1/2 of Lot 15 Concession 10 Flos Township (100 acres) for $400. On the same day, he sold the E1/2 of the N1/2 (50 acres) to Obadiah Stafford (his son-in-law) for $200. (Source: original instrument, Simcoe County Land Registry Office, Barrie Ontario)

- Born 24 Aug 1871 S ˝ Lot 12 Con 10, Flos Twp Simcoe County (Reg. #007905 MS929 Reel #4)
- 1881 Census 10 years old living at home (Flos Twp) with his parents
- 1891 Census, his parents have split and he has moved
- 1901 Census is living Clover Bar, Alberta with the Baker family
- 1911 Census is living beside the Hensell’s (his sister Fanny & Richard Hensell on Section 32 Twp 53 Range/Meridian W4 (Alberta / Victoria / Sub district #14 / Page 3)
- Buried on 1947/03/07 in Section A Block Grave 853 Lloydminister Cemetery, Saskatchewan.
Obadiah Stafford (of James Stafford and Ann Wilson)
- Born about 1870, Beauce, Quebec (per his marriage certificate and various census returns)
- 1881 Census living at home with his parents in Muskoka (NA Film #C-13243 / District 131 / Sub-district C / Page #15 / Household #66 )
- 1891 Census – not sure assume he is still in the Bracebridge area
- Married Laura Burbidge on 1 Mar 1894 Gravenhurst (Reg #008076 MS932)
- 1901 Census is living Bracebridge Ontario with wife Laura and children Vera & Beatrice
- Died May 31, 1907, age 37, Bracebridge, Ontario (Muskoka District) (Reg. #019791 MS935 Reel #131)
1881 Obadiah and Elizabeth Stafford split, and he moved west. He subsequently had a second family with Elsie Pirrie. They had three sons, John Pirrie Stafford, Joseph Stafford and a third whose name I do not know.
1911 Census of Canada
- Obadiah Sr. is in Stafford Twp, Renville, North Dakota (1910 Census)
- Elizabeth (nee Booth) not sure where she is, but think she lived the rest of her days in Toronto
- Frank Stafford is in Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Alberta (1911 census)
- Fanny & Wm. Hensell are at Victoria, Alberta Sec 32 Twp 53 Range/Meridian W4
- Obadiah Jr. is at Victoria, Alberta Section 32 Twp 53 Range/Meridian W4
- Louisa & Fred Read are living at 85 Markham St., Toronto with 3 girls & 1 boy. She died in Toronto on March 8, 1916.
