circus in Bristol, late 1890s
« on: Friday 04 May 07 20:10 BST (UK) »

This is a photograph of trapeze artist Tom James Watts, believed to be made around 1899.   We're trying to find out which circus he was with, and his stage name.     He also worked as a letter-press printer in Bristol -- this is what is shown on the 1901 census for him (although he's mis-transcribed as Som J. Watts!)

Does anyone have any ideas on where to look for this information??

Thanks

Try John Turner's 19th & 20th century circus people site - it's a great resource for circus people & biography

http://www.circusbiography.co.uk/

...or leave an enquiry on their message board

Good luck

Hiya kg,

There'd be no harm posting the picture and your query to World's Fair.
It's widely read by circus people many of whom may not use computers.
The address is ...

The World's Fair Limited,
Hollinwood Business Centre,
Albert Street,
Oldham.
Lancashire OL8 JWF

The phone number and email address are in the link.
