Chris in 1066Land & Kris - I have just got in to find that u two have been very busy!  Thank you very much - Joseph was indeed a coastguard - the labourer bit probably happened as Elizas family were all builders/bricklayers.  Once again thanks for your help.  This really is a great site with a lot of very helpful people.

Regards

Many apologies for the dated reply but I have only just found this thread.

This family appears in my data,  I can add the following:-

Josephs wife Eliza is Eliza Hammond b.~1841 in Angmering to John Hammond and Mary Baker.   Interestingly her sister Jane died young so perhaps she adopted her name for a while??

You will find a wealth of info regarding the Angmering Hammond's at the Angmering Society's Web site,  the accuracy is very good,  data compiled from parish records and census data by myself and society members.

Stephen Lashmar b. 1887 married Mary Edith Cheal b. 1881 Littlehampton.  m. 27/06/1903 Worthing.

Ellen Lashmar b. 1879 married Robert Cheal b. 1877 Littlehampton.  m. 30/03/1907 Broadwater.

Robert and Mary Cheal where brother and sister.
I cannot personally vouch for the accuracy of these marriages,  was given to me by a Cheal researcher but I do trust them, also have much more on the Cheal's.
