Can you please help trace Robert Stanley Hawley

Here is what I have so far from the 1881 census RG11/4036 /94 p33

And here is what I have from 1871
RG10/3348/12 p17

I cannot find him on the 1861 and before and am really stuck. I also can't find details of his wife Sarah Jane's maiden name. Please can anyone help?

Still no luck on Robert in 1861 though. We have been searching for hours. Looks like it has been mis transcribed Cry

Do you have ancestry access?? I can see Robert in 1851 as a grandson, but the writing is awful. I will post the reference just in case you have access

RG H0107 2237 628 71 I think the grandparents names are Ann and Elijah?

Hi again. Been studying that info which is fab. I see it is on two pages though. Now if you look on the second page you will see the family listed under the Hawleys we have looked it the family under it is also Hawley they must have lived next door. I cannot make out any of the names or ages or anything though Sad

This is the worst census return I have ever seen. Can anyone make anything out of it?

In 1861 it looks like they are transcribed as HANLEY.

RG9/2993 F58 P29

Ann Hawley 79, b Hooley Hill, Lancs
Louisa 39, Cotton Weaver, b Dukinfield Cheshire
Robert S 29, Schoolmaster, b Dukinfield Cheshire

There is also another Hawley family next door.

As you say the 1851 is difficult to make out but to me it looks like.

Christening from IGI

Robert Stanley Hawley, 5 June 1831, St Michael's, Ashton Under Lyne - Mother: Alice Hawley, no father listed.

Looks like he is the son of Elijah and Ann's daughter Alice.
