Birth in Stranraer, Wigtown in 1913

My step dad, now deceased, was born 11 January 1913 in Stranraer, Wigtown...apologies if I have spelt those places wrongly, I am trying to read faded handwriting from a birth certificate.

This certificate does not show parents names. How do I find them out.

There is an address on the certificate for place of birth, but I'm not sure if the address is a hospital type place or a private home.

Any assistance is gratefully accepted.

Hi - Can you give me your step dads names & what does the address look like on his certificate , it might help me to trace other members of the family. I'm in Stoneykirk, about 3 miles outside of Stranraer & will help if i can.

95 Dalrymplr Street (Inch) Stranraer

Then in the certified bit

Entry # 19 in the register book of births for the Burgh of Stranraer in the County of Wigtown for the year 1913.

Any help on this would be wonderful.

Hi Sandie, Can confirm that 95 Dalrymple Street is a private address & still exists . It is across the road from the Dalrymple Hospital but it's a relatively modern(ish) hospital & wouldn't have been in existance in 1913. So far I've not come up with a lot but I'll go down to the local library & check The "Wigtownshire Freepress" names index to see if there is any mention of Roberts birth in there- bear with me though as sometimes my shifts at work don't let me get down there when it's open! I'll get back to you as soon as poss.
