1871 Census Lookup McKenzie

Would some kind soul see if David McKenzie Shopkeeper Bridge St Montrose, Wife Elizabeth, Ann daughter, John son baker , Mary and Elizabeth mill workers (info from 1861 census) are still in Montrose? All were born in Berwick On Tweed.

Hello CJW,

I am afraid that David died aged 55 (salesman)

The death took place in 1869 October 18th at the Lunitic Asylum, Sunnyside, Parish of Montrose.

Married to Elizabeth Gibson

Cause of death Paralysis (many years)

No parents listed, death was registered by his son John McKenzie 40 Ferry Street Montrose.



Found Elizabeth living in Blythswood Lanarkshire, in the 1871 census

1871 644/06 006/06 015

No address listed other than Parish of St George, Blythswood Glasgow, Lanarkshire


Elizabeth McKenzie Head, Widowed, age 56 Born Berwick upon Tweed

Mary McKenzie Daughter Single aged 26 born Berwick upon Tweed

William McKenzie Grandson aged 6 born Montrose, Forfarshire



Elizabeth died aged 59

Elizabeth McKenzie widow of David McKenzie Bookmakers salesman

Died September 30 1874 146 West Graham Street, Glasgow.

Parents listed as being Joseph Gibson Master Mason (deceased) and Ann Gibson nee Elliot (deceased)

cause of death Brights disease of Kidney

Death registered by son Joseph McKenzie 1 Clyde Street Dunbarton.
