Folder type ?
« on: Sunday 06 May 07 15:01 BST (UK) »

Ok I give up!
Just joined and put postings on but each time on the left of the screen my folder is different to other peoples. (mine is sort of gold and others silver)
So I am not sure what I should click on when it is a new topic. Why isn't my folder silver like the others? And how do you change it Please??
Huh

Hi Gene Genie
Welcome to Rootschat.
I think I may know why you are confused.  Usually the folders are silver, BUT, when it is a topic you have started or you have posted on, the folder turns yellow.  This means you can easily see topics that you have started or joined in.
Does that answer the question - if not ask again!!

Hi, if you scroll down to the bottom of the board you're looking at there's a little description of what all the symbols mean

No problem - it takes a little while to find your way round the site and all its functions. People are always willing to help so just ask if you get stuck.

OK - I understand what the symbols in the left column mean but what about the column next to that?

For instance this topic has a smiley (or should that be a frowny) and others have a thumbs up. Where do they come from and what do they mean?

The icons don't really mean anything in particular and are used , sometimes, as a means of highlighting that the person posting the message believes it is slightly different or wants to draw extra attention to it.
When posting a message or replying to one the first line is the subject header (filled in automatically when replying to a message but which you must complete if its a new thread )
The next line is message icon with a selection box next to that - click on the downward shaped V at the right hand edge and you can then select the different icons (Standard is the default)
