Coxon Family 1901, please-COMPLETED, THANK YOU
« on: Sunday 06 May 07 15:21 BST (UK) »

Hello,

I am looking for the following members of the Coxon family in 1901.  I have had a look on the free census & found that 2 members of the family are living in Thornaby.  If possible I would like to know if they are living together, and if so who else is in the household.

Albert Coxon age 14 (born 1886) born in Addleston, Surrey and living in Thornaby, profession an Apprentice Plumber.

Ada Coxon age 23 (born 1877) born in Hartlepool and living in Thornaby, no occupation, single.

I have also found the following Coxon living in Stockton on Tees:
I have also found a Nelly Coxon age 19 (born 1881) born in Sunderland and living in Stockton on Tees, profession a Domestic Servant, single.

I have found the above family members on the 1891 census and I can give details if you would like them,  they were living in Thornaby with the rest of their family.

It looks like some of the family moved to Sunderland after the 1891 census, so I am requesting a search on the Durham page, to see if they moved as a family or are living individually.

Thank you in anticipation,

Louise

Thank you very much, that was quick!!

I have an old map of the area, it cuts Thornaby in half but hopefully Erimus (?) Terrace will be on the half I have.

I think George is Mary's brother.  He seems to move around the family.

Thank you once again,

Louise

While I have been sat here reading your message & rubbing my chin, at who was at the family address, you have sent another message abut Nelly Coxon.  Thank you also for that one!

This part of the family rather throws out the Sunderland conenction though  Undecided

Two Mary's, so there is a mistake somewhere  Shocked

SandraC

I agree with Barbara - rivetter, as on 1881 census

thanks for the occupation - I was going to put rivetter cos that made sense - then I was thinking about pavier but I thought he wouldn't be laying flags in the shipyard so I thought that a pavetter was a bit more exotic.  Wink

Yes but what did you think that meant, in an exotic sort of way?  Grin Grin

Hello,

I have just had to leave an embarrassing message on the Durham board, abondoning the Coxon family in Sunderland,  as SandraC has said on this page I can't have two Mary Coxon's.  I am afraid I have got myself into a right pickle.  The family on this page are definatley mine, right down to George Hay (I know you said May, but Mary's maiden name was Hay & she did have a brother George, so I think this must be he!)  The Coxon's have been nothing but trouble to me.  But I will not let them beat me!

Thank you once again for all your hard work, exotic or otherwise!

please keep up- it's a cross between a rivetter and a pavier - utterly fascinating (riveting) but down to earth (flagging) - could be just exhausting then as in flagging - as I am at the moment with all our research today ecneps - but needs must and I'm off on the trail of these Coxons.

Coxon - just read Durham thread again- are you still looking for your Lilian and when did you last see her?

Hello,

Thanks for all your hard work today.  Rivetting, paving etc.
I think my Coxons are well and truely researched!  Please help somebody else, I feel awful that I have had all this attention, when they can't be found.  I am going to visit the records office for Stockton area and I hope to find out more there.  Until then, when hopefully I will have more information, please accept my thanks, and put your feet up with a nice cup of tea, you all deserve it.
