I am trying to understand why some postings that I read are much, much too wide for my screen whlist most appear normally. Example: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=22960.msg86190;topicseen#msg86190

And doesn't it make reading the postings an absolute pain, continually having to drag the page to read the next bit, and then drag it back for the next line. It all makes what should be pleasant experience a bit tedious.
Isn't there something that can be done to control the width of images in the same way that the size of the image is limited to 300Kb, or by setting a maximum no. of characters or columns as in simple but effective text editors ?

It is a pain, yes when people post very very wide images, and yes it is technically possible for us to restrict this, but it would slow down the server quite a great deal (for all messages with images, not just wide ones), and make the images less readable. It's a balance between useability and speed for the majority of messages.

Thanks I understand now. I can that Cell posted an oversize census image and that decided the width of posts in that thread. I am relieved it was not my fault.
