The BROKENSHAW / a line of Mevagissey
« on: Thursday 24 April 08 15:40 BST (UK) »

I have direct family line from the Brokenshaw family of Mevagissey. I have been able to trace from Edward (b. 1583) who moved to Mevagissey and started a family. They were mainly mariners on the male side and I have several crew lists and a very helpful distant cousin. However, does anyone have any "life in Mevagissey" stories for the 1700 - 1800 period or any Brokenshaw / Brokensha information for the same Huh

Thanks in anticipation

Hi Temujin
HAve you looked at many of the old wills, they can often give you alot of background info. Early directories? Tin roll musters etc?

Thanks  Smiley  I have spent many happy hours at Cornwall Records Office along the lines you suggest and have plans to widen this search at the Truro Museum but it is far enough away to be a once a year event. The Wills have helped confirm tree info but the directories do not mention humble workers very much !!!

Thanks for the suggestion.
