Hello, I am looking for George Walter Blake b.c1883. All i have to go on is his marriage certificate, which states he was 24 years old in August 1906 and was a porter with a deceased father named George Walter Blake. The other source is his army records, which states in March 1903 he was 18years and 2months and was b. St. Lukes, Middx and was a Carman. His parents are not listed, and his next of kin were his elder brother William (royal Navy) and younger sister Emily living Lambeth Surry (address looks like 56 L Marsh). With different ink - which i believe was added later, it says his wife was Jessie E K Blake living in St. Lukes.
There was also another piece of paper asking for a discharge or transfer from the army dated March 1906 and says he was 21 years old and 2 months and his trade was a labourer.
However, my mum believed George joined the army underage at 16, making him b.1883. So any help to locate this family in any census or ...well anything would be fantastic!!!
Thanks Hollie

sorry, conceding on this one - perhaps the night-shift will have more luck.
Also looked back to 1881 to see if there was a George Walter around the area ....

all I can suggest is that you order that 1883 Birth Cert - you could qualify it with what you believe to be his Fathers name - if its wrong the GRO will refund £4.00, and you know to keep looking...
On the other hand, Fathers names do get 'fabricated' on Marriage Certs sometimes to cover up illegitimacy .... its a strong possibility that it will just have a Mothers name .... if you follow me
Might also explain his choice of 'next of kin' ....

Ok, I have obtained the 1883 birth cert of George Walter Blake. It states the father is William Blake (carpenter) and mother is Alice Blake nee Neave.
I have found them in 1881 census I believe at: RG11 0390 11 15. If you could find them in 91 and 01 I would be greatful. May be them
