Searching for "The Chocolate Box" around 1942- 46.
It was on High Street North.
Any owner's name? Thanks.

Hello & welcome to RootsChat

I have 1936 Kelly's directory of Bedfordshire, & in the Trades listings for Dunstable this is not listed. However there is 'Confectionery Bazaar' at 18 High Street North (but no owner's name). There is also 6 named confectioners trading on High Street North - do you have a name in mind or a specific address ? If so let me know & I'll recheck the book

Regards John

Dear John
Thank you for your time and trouble. Following a couple of other leads, I believe the "Chocolate Box" was found around No.186 High Street North, opposite the old railway station. The period I am interested in is about 1942-45, when a couple owned the sweet shop. My mother, aged 75, remembers it being there, and other enquiries have confirmed the name of the shop, but no luck with the owners' names.

There is a Mrs Edith E Winter, confectioner, at 184 High Street North.
