I am trying to find John Butchart on the 1851 census for Scotland, born c.1840-1845. He was born Forfar/Angus and his father was William (age/dob unknown). That's about all I have on him!
If John Butchart was born between 1840 and 1845 then there are 5 boys by that name in the Angus 1851 census, how can you tell which is the correct one? The only way to say is by the parents names which would mean checking each on of these 5 names on the census to see which one is your John Butchart or by narrowing down the birth year of John Butchart.
Unfortunately none of these John's show with a father William, even opening up the birth year a couple of years either way
1. B. 1842 in Panbride staying with his sister Ann 2. B. 1838 in Dundee with mother only (Margaret) 3. B. 1841 in Dundee with mother only (Mrs Butchart) 4. B. 1838 in Kirriemuir father David 5. B. 1838 in Dundee father David 6. B. 1845 in Montrose father John 7. B. 1842 in Arbroath father Adam
Regards.
